History of TUTICORIN CUSTOMS BROKERS' ASSOCIATION

The magnificent city of Tuticorin from centuries held pride of place as a haven for shipping trade on theeast coast of India. The systematic and committed working of the labour force has been one of the factors for the efficiency of the port. Encouraging this was the support and certain service minded people of Tuticorin who were engaged in the shipping industry. Both these aspects put together were the boom for Tuticorin as the best choice for shipping trade.

It is but only a fact that the shipping trade had picked up a high momentum with the emerging of user associations for steamer agents, custom house agents, stevedores etc. TUTICORIN CUSTOMS BROKERS' ASSOCIATION was initially formed on 04.10.1958, with 24 licensees. The Customs Licensed Agents Association and got registered under the Societies Registration Act Ever since its formation, the association was getting excellent co-operation from the Tuticorin minor port and the customs department as well.

The name of the association was later changed as TUTICORIN CUSTOMS BROKERS' ASSOCIATION. The association has been striving with smile and pleasure in maintaining cordial relationship with one and all concern in the shipping trade. The TCBA celebrates its golden jubilee on 04.10.2008 having successfully completed 50 years of dedicated service to the trade.
